These are Mantic zombies painted with the army painter system, with a coarse stone basing and lots of unit fillers to build out the unit ( you can never have too many zombies)

Vampire Counts Ogres to Crypt Horrors Conversion Project 4
First Crypt Horror finished with greenstuff. The head is a lot smaller than the ogre head so you. Really need to build out the neck area to make it look more 'natural'. I am pretty happy with how it has turned out.

Vampire Counts Ogres to Crypt Horror Conversion Project 2 & Background
The idea to convert ogres to Crypt Horrors came from a couple of areas. One was a search of the net, just looking for ideas, another was viewing a YouTube channel "mreeson" where he has ogres painted in a necrotic colour. Also when I was down at the club someone suggested that my army was too soft and some crypt ghouls could be the answer
When I looked at my list I wanted to keep to the zombie theme of my army. Hence the grave guard will get the flick and the Crypt Horrors come in. They will be painted to be part Crypt Horror part 'zombie ogre' so I think they will look good.
The biggest challenge was the price. I wanted 15 of these, and at $81 Aussie dollars per 3 this was going to cost me $405!!!!! The pricing of games workshop in Oz has been discussed in many forums so I won't go on here. Instead I managed to get 20 ogres ( a battalion box set plus lead Belchers) through eBay at a good price $90 for the lot including postage. I sold the lead Belchers for $20 so got some of that back as well. I also purchased a whole bunch of Crypt Horror bits including arms and head swaps. Below is some of the photos of the ogres when they arrived. Put together pretty well and then undercoated. That's about it

Vampire Counts Ogres to Crypt Horrors Conversion Project 1
When is an ogre not an ogre?
When he is a Crypt Horror!!!
Work in progress! I have 16 ogres I got cheap to convert. More photos to follow...
Where am I up to? My Armies!
So which armies do I collect? What era or period am I most interested in? Do I enjoy fantasy games or am I a purist - historical only? Unfortunately I cannot tell you. Because each week I go down to my local wargaming club, I get inspired to do something different, investigate another time in history. Each time I look at my modest (although my wife wouldn't say so) library of military history books I become fixated on another topic. Its amazing!
But where am I at at the moment? Well I got back into the hobby only recently after having a bit of a lull for 20 years!! I really regret it being so long, but I know others in the same boat, as life takes over and then suddenly you remember this awesome hobby you loved so long ago, and wonder would it still interest me now?
My son came across my old circa 1980's wood elf army when he was 8 - and that was that. After explaining to him what it was all about and having a very simple game he was hooked ... and so was I (again!) That was 18 months ago. I got back in touch with my old club and I haven't looked back
So I have at the moment:
World War 1 - I really would like to build some early war armies, at this stage the Gallipoli peninsular - but who knows. Building the terrain for this would be great fun. 28mm
Napoleonic - Prussians 28mm
Anyways enough r from me. Hopefully that gave you a bit of an insight as to what I play and am interested in - pretty much everything. Hopefully I will get some pics up of the various armies soon.

So I have at the moment:
- 1 Wood Elf Army updated to the latest rules (8th edition Games Workshop Fantasy Battles). Mostly painted, re based in parts, and expanded
- 1 Vampire Counts Army. This started to give my son and I another army to play each other at home. I got hooked, and now have I think over 300 zombies alone, expanding rapidly, but getting close to being finished (in my mind at least)
- A Platoon of Fallschirmjäger with an AT gun, mortar section, HMG but no vehicles. Not painted but based and undercoated. The guys at the club use Kampfgruppe rules
- A relatively large English Civil War army in 25mm and 28mm. Most of these were very generously given to me by a member of the club. I will be expanding on these with another 80 foot, a couple more cannon as a start, and I will be re-basing the entire army to suit the rule set commonly played Pike and Shotte. I will also consider giving these troops a 'touch up', fixing the chipped paint here and there, replacing bent pikes with new ones, maybe washing, inking or dipping them, adding a few highlights.... maybe.
- My son has started a Yorkist War of the Roses Army. He got a few boxes of plastics for XMAS and his birthday (he is now just 10), and his army has grown dramatically. He has done a great job - just needs to pain the majority of them.
- I have just leapt into the realm of ancients as well. FOG is played routinely at the club in 15mm, however I have really been interested in 28mm Ancients. There is more than enough Greek Hoplites and Macedonians to fight, so I have decided to start a 28mm Persian army. I am waiting on the delivery of 125 foot and 60 Cavalry to get me going - wish me luck. I will have to think about how I get these guys onto the field in the shortest period of time.
- My son also has 40k Space Marines, and Tyranids, and a swarm of Lord of the rings good and evil to play a fun skirmish game. Oh not to mention Space Hulk - what a game!

A start...
So... I have just started my New Blog, which after reviewing many other blogs out there, appears to start in the same place. That is - I wanted to share my musings on the hobby I spend so much time thinking about, so much time playing, and so much money on - wargaming. But I also figured this would be a place for me first and foremost; where I can hopefully control in a fashion the streams of information, articles, maps, modelling and painting tips and tricks, favourite websites and blogs and links.
I may even share some of my own endeavours in this hobby. I want to start out by saying I am no professional here, my painting won't win any awards, nor will my conversions, modelling or probably any other aspect. In fact, I will probably focus on the opposite; how can I get my army on the table as quickly as possible with the minimum of fuss and pain. That's not to say I don't like the 'artisitc' side, I actually find it incredibly rewarding and relaxing, but to me the end result - enjoying a great game - is the ultimate goal.
So lets see how far along I get here. Will I start and stop with only a few posts..... we shall see
